Of the Days gone by...

In these last few years, if I have realized learned one thing about myself is that I am NOT visionary! And I pay its price each time for not being one. And yet, I try each day, before each event, before every big day that takes place. No matter how much I plan beforehand, there is something or the other I miss. Seldom does it ever happen when everything is perfect.

Luckily, when my baby was born, I had everything I needed at the hospital (thanks to all the Youtube videos and family members). Those nine months were all about resting, laughing, eating hogging food and sleeping. I wasn’t doing anything per se (except making a baby, which is also a great deal), and thus I turned into this lazy person.

I remember hating to sleep coz it wastes time but these 9 months and the rest that followed later, plus that extra weight I gained on every part of my body, kind of stuck me to wherever I settled. Simple chores for me became huge tasks, moving around the house felt more like a burden and all I wanted to do was sit at one place and boss everyone around to give me my stuff, my food, my phone, my charger, everything. And all of this made me crankier. Also, the thought that my behavior would affect my baby literally ate me and thus I couldn’t act too much cranky, thus becoming even more frustrated.

One thing I noticed is hardly anyone talks about Post-Partum. The knowledge on this subject is rare and isn’t even much spoken about and thus I am going to write a post on this. Coz I need to more than I have to!

When I started writing this post, I had a few things in mind but because I/m writing after a long time, all the thoughts that crossed my mind one after the other took the form of words here. I’m sure you must have noticed this while reading it.

How has life been treating you guys? What new is going on? Any new news you want to share?

Hope to hear you out J

The Month that went by... #AtoZReflections

I sense relief within me with a little bit of heavy heart at the same time. The blog hopping, commenting, replying, sharing... it was a phase full of utter madness and it paid off! It always does! And it always leaves you with a sense of pride.

The month was all about managing my time better, the discipline that is required to carry it off and the lessons learned.

As the AtoZ fever was in the air when the year started by, I had made up my mind on participating for the third consecutive year. Though, I did not think anything beyond that.

As February went by, a dear friend was getting all paranoid about the theme and asked me about it at the same time and I was like, dude... it’s Feb! I have a whole month to think and plan and write...

What I did not realize was this month wouldn’t just pass but would run like an Olympic athlete!

Coming up with the theme:

As always, I was confused and finally went with my heart. There was a reason behind choosing the theme I chose.

It often happens when there are certain things that happen around me and I don’t really feel comfortable about it. I am not that articulate when it comes to keeping my perspective in a group (especially family) and that is when I feel the urge to put it somewhere, to show the other side, to think from another angle different from the way everyone has been seeing all their lives, that there is so much more beyond the stereotypes, that whatever everybody does is always for a reason and explaining all of that to a bunch of people who will never come to the point of agreement, it is kind of futile.

It was all these thoughts that inspired me to come up with this theme, where I thought of writing down everything that I think, follow and believe.

I often hear, what I talk is impractical (for example, my stand on divorced women or looking beyond looks for any marriage or having a baby or not is completely one’s choice and the likes), that all of it happens in books, television series or movies. In reality, it is much more complicated. I completely vouch for it being complicated but I also vouch for the fact that it exists, that things are changing around us and that we need to change ourselves if we want the change in our society.

A to Z feelings:

Expressing my thoughts this A to Z Challenge was beyond gratifying. It made me happy because I realized I wasn’t the only one who thinks this way. With like-minded bloggers, I got an immense support and motivation, not to mention wings to my thoughts and confidence to express them loud out there.

The Discipline that came with A to Z:

Initially, I had close to 18 posts scheduled (which is so not me!) and I was doing fine but as they were coming to an end, I was panicking because I was falling out of stories but eventually every day in the evening, I sat down and wrote the post for the next day and scheduled it and started with my blog hopping.

It was the first time I had scheduled these many posts and I was happy that I did. Writing every day became kind of a ritual that I would want to continue with. April is now over and this is just the second blog post this month but I am writing every day without fail. I hope to continue this way.

Lessons Learned:

What I understood this month is when we have a deadline coming up or a challenge that we take up, we make our minds continuously think and ponder over things; we push ourselves (beyond our limits) to the extent that we never do otherwise and feel surprised for the way we perform. I, for one, have countless thoughts in my mind which I feel like writing but I don’t. I just postpone (which I am expert at) and make an excuse to myself. I assume on my own that the topic is not worthy of being written or desirable enough to form a blog post.

But this time, even the slightest or tiniest of the idea took the shape of a complete blog post. It was kind of an eye-opener for me and I’d like to keep my eyes open now.

Contented with the numbers:

I’m not a number person. Yes, I do feel happy when I reach a certain benchmark but I don’t get finicky if I don’t have them. This year, during the A to Z, my blog entered the 6-digit figure and it felt contended and worthy of everything, worthy of investing time in my blog and the peace of mind that comes with it.

Readers Choice:

Arranged Marriage’ was one post that caught maximum attention with the highest number of views. Other posts that intrigued the readers and compelled them to think over were Beautiful Bride, Extra Marital Affair, Identity, Quit and Understand.

You can read all the posts here.

Verdict:

All in all, it was fun writing all month and I am happy that I survived!

A big Thank you to everyone who stopped by and encouraged me with their beautiful comments and thank you to the ones who did not stop by (it only pushed me more to improve my content).

So tell me, did you participate this year? How was it? What did you learn? Where did you struggle the most?

Cheers

Are you the Change?

“Be the change you wish to see in the world” is one quote that resonates with me like none other.

I remember I was a child when I read this, not sure where but it caught my attention and made so much sense. While growing up, I could see the flaws in our society, especially for the girls and it always remained in my heart. What also remained was the desire to bring the change.

There was a time when I was really adamant at making things right around me, prevent things which couldn’t be justified and wanted everyone to change according to my thought process. And I failed... miserably!

It felt like the moment of truth... I realized it is so much simpler to make kids understand things and tell them what is right or wrong. It’s also easier to make them admit their mistake but at the same time, it becomes quite a task when we talk about adults. Everyone thinks they’re right... even if they aren’t they wouldn’t accept that because they think it will make them small in front of the world.

Even if people are ready to accept their mistakes they hardly want to change. Call it their habit or sheer laziness or pure ignorance but they like the system they’re adapted to and don’t want to come out of their comfort zone. And that is why change is so much resisted.

Everyone has a problem with the system yet no one wants to make the first move. Everyone wants to live their lives on their own terms and yet no one comes out publicly and eventually becomes part of the so-called society!

Everyone wants to be a part of the cattle gait and shoo away even the thought of doing things which might sound quirky or bizarre to the society.

It was never easy... to change things around and so I changed myself. I always opted for non-conventional options and wanted to do something that doesn’t follow the typical societal norm.

I did not like the conservatism around me and I became a liberal. I believe if someone wants to do something (which may not follow the usual path) then it is totally up to them to decide, it is simply their prerogative to make a choice of what they want to do with their lives and head forward... It is not our business. Period. And that is the reason why I never question/judge anyone’s decision for that matter. I totally get it if people do things for the way they do.

Source
Also, when I face difficult situations, deep in my heart, I always wish if someone understood me better and that is the reason why I try to be the person who understands people in spite of all the odds against them. I always try to empathize with them and make an effort to do my bit... because I believe the rest shall automatically follow.

Change starts with us... within us... through us... by us... for us!

And it is not just about the thoughts and stuff, it is also about doing your part... simple acts like not wasting water, electricity etc, not loitering around, being kind to others and countless things that we do in our daily lives. This bit by bit would bring a huge change, I sense!

As Dalai Lama quotes, ‘If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito.”

Tell me which is that one quote that moves you and you live by it? Tell me about the quote that shapes you, that you breathe through day and night?

Cheers

B- Beautiful Bride

Once there lived a handsome boy in the city who was the only son of Mr and Mrs Mehta. The boy came from a rich background and beautiful parents. Soon there was a hunt for a bride for the boy. And not just any bride, but a beautiful bride to suit the family image!

As the boy was getting older every year, the number of suitable girls who would match the family status was going down. And this really worried Mr Mehta! He didn’t have any demands, no dowry, no questions about the qualifications... all they wanted was a beautiful, homely, not-so-ambitious girl... to suit their conservative family needs!

The boy didn’t have much of an opinion. He was happy with what his parents had decided for him.
5 years passed, and still no girl for their handsome son. One was too educated, the other wanted to pursue her career post marriage, one wasn’t fair enough, one had short hair, one was too healthy, the other was too skinny, one had a long nose and the list continued!

Finally, the search was over and they found the perfect match for their son from a small town... tall, fair, timid, beautiful, slim and homely, the one who would fit in their criteria.

Marriage happened and the girl was welcomed with full pomp and show. It was a big wedding. All the relatives were touting about the beautiful bride. People were literally in awe of her beauty. And this made Mehta’s very happy!

Source
But things don’t always remain fair and square. As time passed, the family got over with her beauty and started pestering for her not-so-fluent English, her grooming, her dressing sense, etc etc. No doubt, she was the perfect homemaker, perfect daughter-in-law and perfect wife! But this wasn’t enough for the Mehtas!

They wanted her to represent the family in a sophisticated way and she did try as well but failed them every time. They started lecturing her on the way she should carry herself and speak in public. She felt really embarrassed and... ashamed! She failed to fathom because that is how she was and that is what the family liked about her... and now it seems all wrong! What was she doing wrong? She was trying her best but couldn’t make them happy! And hence, she couldn’t be happy either!

Whose fault was it? The girl who was pure as white, and perfect in every aspect one could ask for? Sure she was qualified, but didn’t have much command in English!

So what is the big deal about it? Had the family gone for the English speaking or the too much educated one, they wouldn’t want her to go for a job!

I pity them! And there are so many others like them of which we can’t really do anything! All I feel is blessed for not being married in such a family! But in some corner of my heart, I feel sad as well for that girl, who is best in every way and yet must be going through some esteem issues!

What is your take on it? Do you only go by the external beauty when it comes to marriages? Tell me about it all here!

Cheers

Love quotient... is it still a Question?

Source
One thing that really moved me in a long time is the conversation I had with a really close friend of mine. We talk about almost everything going on in our lives... love, sex, kids, family, friends, enemies... everything!

There are certain things you learn from time to time and yet there are truths that hit you in your face like nothing else.

|There are things that smash you down and leave you broken. There are conversations that take away every bit of peace and sanity in you, leaving you behind absolutely numb.

Building brick by brick, one tries to make their relationship/marriage into a less miserable one but when they learn the truth, all they feel is, it was all utter waste. Waste of time, waste of energy, waste of efforts, and a waste of every single ounce of pain that you take for your relationship.

At the end of the day, when you learn that there is no significant difference between you and that yapping lady next door who is always, mind you always, is on her toes to eat her husbands’ head for every petty thing in her life and you, on the other hand, control the strongest desire of yours to talk about things that worry you and wait for the right time to discuss, or try to understand the frame of mind of your partner and then mould yourself accordingly, or after waiting for like a billion years, when you finally say for things you want to experience and yet after all this while, all you earn for yourself is the title of that yapping woman... it does nothing but shatters you completely!

How do you make peace? How do you accept all of this and go ahead? Sure, a glass of wine would help ease the pain, but that is all temporary. What about permanent solutions? But then I feel, we live in a time where nothing is actually permanent in life and that, my friend, is the sad reality!

After a few years of togetherness, you find out that nothing ever is going to change! Things will remain the way they are or worse, they may take a backseat as well! The storm that has hit your lives decide to never leave you!

Are you willing to take it forward and live with this truth? What would you do in such a situation? If you’re in a relationship, sure you can break-up, but what do you do in a marriage? Leave your partner, saying what, you have compatibility issues? In a society where the ideal marriage means having the arrangement of having the perfect house, perfect car, perfect in-laws or the perfect ‘wealth’ to fulfill all your desires and yet the biggest quotient of ‘love’ is absent, what do you do? Do you walk out of that arrangement? Or do you have an extra-marital affair or do you wait for that forlorn day when you will have love by your side? What really should one do in a situation like this?

What you feel is the ray of hope in a darkness like this which is barely seen or observed?

Bitter Sweet Life

The other day this thought crossed my mind. And it made me realise things change so fast around us and we don’t even notice. But when realisations strike, it obviously gets too late!

So many things change when we grow up. And we become the kinds we never thought we would. Our circle gets limited. We become less understanding and more judging. We give less and expect more. For every ounce of stuff done around us. We’re always surrounded by things neck deep that we barely get time for our loved ones. And so, we don’t call them either. Rather, wait for the other one to make an effort and if the other doesn’t, it becomes our birthright to blame them for being busy and not calling us or not making an effort.

Convenient, isn’t it?

From the times in the school, when sharing about your first crush, or first boyfriend or the many firsts, that used to be the highlight of the day, without which we wouldn’t be able to digest our food, and was the top priority to get it out somehow, to the times when we fight our scariest demon... all alone! And the worst part is we start hiding things. Coz of the fear of being judged, or probably to display that our life is perfect. That we know how to deal with stuff around us!

I don’t know what is it and more importantly, why it is like this!

Things change. Relationships change. Priorities change.

|Something that once seemed so evil becomes the only drug to keep you going.

I, for one, used to be the most caring person around. I used to think about others before myself. I still do. I used to be the one making calls on birthdays to wish the person not-so-special (I've stopped doing that), the one who was always ready to sacrifice and suffer, the one who’d never put herself before anyone else, the one who couldn’t live without her friends, the one whose yapping used to be her thing, the one who couldn’t resist sharing the minutest of details happening in her life. Sharing the particulars of the most silly things that can happen in one’s life, to obviously the ones that are truly worth sharing. And today, when I look at myself, I feel so different. Part of that person inside me has taken a slow death!

I barely text my friends, let alone call them. And I don’t even regret that. If someone calls, it’s fine by me. But that urge to take that extra effort, it doesn’t come. I’m still figuring why?
But the good part is during this process, the ones who are truly yours will always come to you and that makes you happy. Really happy.

Recently, I saw this word and it resonated with my state of mind so well that I want to share it here.

Yes, sometimes I feel Exhaustipated!

I don’t care about things and I feel okay about it! People, who know me well, know how strange it is for me to feel this way.

And this year, the resolution that truly is the highlight and the one I’m religiously working on, is to ‘Speak less’! Yes, you heard that! Loud and clear.

Not that I’m trying to change who I am, but trying to change certain habits that have been doing more harm than good! And no one is responsible for it, but me. Whenever I end up feeling bad, I realize it’s all because of me that I felt the way I did. I’m not blaming anyone, nor am I pointing fingers at anyone, all I’m saying is there are certainly things that I should change about myself, coz no one but me will be the one getting hurt the most!

And in between, I look forward to discovering more of myself. I’m sure it’s going to be worth it.
I think it’s enough for today. Tell me about yourself.

Have you ever done this? Tried to change something about yourself and the way it turned out to be?

Was it good? Was it worth the try? Share with me all your wisdom and I am all ears here!

Does this post resonate with you? Let me know either way.

Cheers

Graflections- September 2016

Time has come to look back to the month of September and cherish the good times and revise the learning’s from the not-so-good-times.

September was a busy month altogether. With the increase in the number of classes and the blogging challenge round the corner, the month was full of reading, writing, learning and relishing the joy of this buzz around.

Teacher’s Day: How can I forget to mention about this day when we’re talking about September? Of course, it was an evening worth remembering. No classes, celebrations, cake, snacks and yes, games as well! It sure feels great to spend time with my students apart from the classes I take.

Celebrating Birthdays: No it wasn’t my birthday. My birthday is this month, more details on it later. My parents’ birthday fall in September and though I wasn’t there with them to celebrate, but a bit of surprise from us made everything perfect. We had ordered cupcakes for them, that depicted their characteristics and they loved it!

Also, one of my cutest and sweetest friend’s birthday too falls in September and not to mention how much fun we girls had with her. Though time was short, but it was special... and fun too :D

Blogging challenges: I was a part of #MyfriendAlexa campaign by Blogchatter and it was such a learning experience altogether. I feel happy to be a part of such communities that helps you grow as a blogger and an individual at the same time. The month was all about writing new posts, reading and sharing others post and in this procedure, I came across some terrific bloggers on the blogosphere. People do so much to improve their blog, the content, the networks, improving on the statistics and I felt ecstatic to have known them and learn from them.

There was a huge drop in my Alexa rank, currently, with a Global rank of 4, 89,514 and Indian rank as 26,002 and I couldn’t be more happy about it!

Sure it got hectic, but it was totally worth it!

Before this month I took part in Blog-a-thon by BAR in August and July was occupied with Half Marathon, by Blogchatter!

As much as I love participating in these challenges, I’ve not signed up for the one going on in October. I want to write to keep that will alive and not write just for the heck of it. I want to stick to the quality posts and that is not possible if I have to forcefully on some days! And so I’m giving myself a break from the writing challenges as of now. Also, there are other things that have been lying in the corner from so long that are crying for my attention and now can’t be ignored further.

Published: No matter if you’ve been published before or not, the thrill of being published remains the same each time. One of my poems got published in Women’s Web, and it felt bliss. If you have missed reading it, you can click here and share the love :)

Dinners & Drives: Good times with friends and drives with them are what weekends all about and I’m not complaining! Random dinner plans, and my all time cravings which are duly taken care of by husband is something I am always thankful/grateful for! God bless the man! :P

I watched the movie #Pink as well and do I need to mention how much I loved the movie? I’m sure you too did! It sure was the movie not to be missed kinds!
A few things creep here and there, but that happens with all of us, don’t you think? And all we need to do is ignore it and move ahead. That’s the best way to keep your sanity alive!

More than 2 months and I still stare at the pile of books that are lying in front of me to be read! I’m still figuring out I don’t even know what!!

Anyway, this will keep on going, you tell me how did September treat you? And what are the things you are looking forward to in October? I am looking forward to all the celebrations and festivities this month!

Cheers

Success for You is? #MondayMusings

At this moment I’m occupied. With lots of stuff and yet I waste my time so much. I should read the lined up books for reviews, I should study for the exam I’m planning to give and I know this is my only chance to give the exam, God knows what’s planned for later. This being the only chance, yet, I’m not getting serious about it! When will I get serious I’m wondering? I want to work hard, but a simple thought of sitting beside A in the room distracts me. Why does this happen with me all the time? I should concentrate on my work, right, and yet I seem to put everything aside when he is around. I don’t feel like doing anything. Does this prove that I don’t love myself enough?

Why do I always take a step behind when the moment arrives of working hard, burning the midnight lamp, and build that laid back attitude of taking things for granted and then cribbing later of not being where I wanted to be, not having the things I wanted to have and not achieving the goals I wanted to for so long?!

Is there a defect in my system? Does this happen with you as well?

Sometimes I wonder, what really is success?

Google says:

the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

Yes, to a lot extent. What if all you wanted was to be happy? And make less money, live in a small house, buy a small car, spending extravagantly is simply not your thing. Moreover, you probably don't want that much amount of money! I know it's rare, but what if?

Is it all monetary? Happiness is often put behind. Contentment is just another word. Success is often measured by the amount of money one makes.

Being busy, working all day, earning that respect, and being recognized for your work sounds all immaterial when it comes to measuring the amount of money one is making. Is the person able to pay all their bills? Is the person able to feed the family well, fulfilling all the demands? If not, one is deemed to be unsuccessful. It’s sad. It hurts and it sucks as well!

Take writing for example. Over these years, I’ve discovered my love for writing. I don’t really know if it’s my passion. But when it comes to paying, it barely pays me anything. Does this make my writing bad? Not at all. But because I’m not making enough money out of my writing, I won’t be called as a successful writer. No matter how much contentment I get doing it. Forget about others, I still have second thoughts of calling myself as a writer in the first place!

The moment writing will start paying me good money, I might be termed as, you know what we’re talking about, successful!

You’re not convinced, are you? Let’s take another example.

There is the man who loves to drive. He is so fond of driving that he becomes a driver one day. He makes frugal money but he is happy with it. He is happy with his life, with his employer, with his family. But is he a successful person in the eyes of the world? I bet not! The moment he will switch jobs and settle where he could tap millions, he might sure be. And then his example would circulate all over the newspapers, colony, relatives, etc!

Sounds ironical, right?

What do you think of that? Do you agree with my thoughts? Yes or no, share your views below!

P.S: It’s Monday! I don’t want to bug you more! This is enough for the day :P

Late-twenties crisis: Are you having one? #MondayMusings

Somehow, I’ve started speaking less.

It surely sounds like a relief to the people around me but this thing is kind of taking a toll on me. It is affecting me big time.

Sometimes I wonder am I moving towards depression? What is it that is going wrong in my life? Or what is it that is bothering me so much?

Everything, almost everything around me is in good shape and yet I don’t feel that joy. Even if there is a sense of happiness, it is temporary.

I don’t feel like going out, I don’t feel like meeting my friends and even if I do, I barely speak with them and I mostly prefer to stay mum. And yes, I do cry for no reason. Tiniest of things affect me, my sensitivity is at its epitome! All of it is so UNLIKE me! Countless thoughts revolve around the orbit of my brain and it’s difficult to find an escape. These thoughts are usually negative.

I’m turning into a woman I don’t like. My zeal to do things seems to flicker, the emphatic nature that I have seems to fade away, finding joys in others joys seems like a task, I get unhappy with what I have and wish for things (not necessarily materialistic) that others have!

All this is because I’m speaking less. And I don’t really know why! I always have expressed my heart out, talking to people has been my forte, and meeting them and feeling good has always been on my plus side! And now, suddenly, it seems incomplete.

I know it in my heart when I’m back to my usual self, all of this crap will go away!

Not that I have a lot of free time, a lot is going on but that volition to be good, do things, entertain people, be the heart and soul of my friends is languishing.

Yesterday, I met a dear friend after a really long time. And she was busy on her phone mostly and I was bored and thus ended up being on my phone! Again so unlike me!

I was home after being at my mum’s place for a couple of days and coming home meant happiness, it meant seeing my husband after a while. It was bliss. I loved having him around and things were going pretty smooth between us. And yet, I got pissed on such a petty thing. And spoilt my mood. And mind you, he was nowhere at fault. It was all in my head, all the futile, baseless thoughts that I keep having, that botch up everything around me, every time!

Is it depression? Are these the symptoms? Or is it the late-twenty crisis? Or are my planetary situations a bit deviated from their paths (if only there is a sound reason behind it)? I don’t know it yet and I don’t feel like finding out either!

The situation is not that worse, but it’s not good on the other hand! Something is bothering me, I just don’t know it yet!

Does this ring a bell with you? Have you felt something like this? What did you do? How did you escape? You gotta tell me! It really is affecting me!

Free you, Happy You!

To the woman in my dreams
To the one, I want to be
I strive hard to come near you
But fail miserably in an attempt or two!

Handling situations
And fighting the odds with grace
Accepting things beyond my control
Make peace and be ace!

To love with compassion
And have the wisdom to fathom the world
To indulge in things and people
Living the life of inspiration is waiting to be unfurled!

To the long strides, I take
And the dream to take that perfect gait.

My head high and shoulders straight
Sparkling eyes, as I walk with aplomb.

To create magic in the words
I dream to stand out from the herd
Nothing in the world
Can stop inside that flying bird!

Yes, it’s a task
A journey through life
But I assure to meet you
One day, some day!

Crankiness Overloaded

How many of you feel cranky when you’re not well?

My level of crankiness tops the charts, box office or whatever standard measure you want to consider.
I think non-stop, I barely am able to find comfort, it becomes hard for to me to lay at ease, and I miss my mother and my father the most.

Actually thinking about them, and they not being here with me and on top of that knowing that they don’t know about my existing condition makes me shed tears even more! Falling sick is my weakest point. I lose my calm and become way too sensitive.

The way they take care of me, no one can and I doubt no one ever will! That’s the thing about parents, you see.

Nobody can fill that gap, that hole, and nobody can compensate their presence as well! And I simply want them around! But then I realize I’m an adult now and should behave like one! You can’t call them all the time and tell them how pathetic you feel with your current health status, coz you’re ’mature’! I hate to be mature at such times!

I want them by my side. Simple.

And why do we live so far from them? It’s a drive of 6 hours, which is not that far, but at this moment I feel it’s like 100 light years!!

Moreover, the taste buds stop functioning! I don’t feel like eating anything or doing anything for that matter.

Technically, this is when I feel the crankiest of all times!

How do you deal when you’re not well? When you fall sick, what becomes your strength? How do you cope up with it? Share with me, please! I need to know and learn it as well!

I’m participating in Half Marathon Blogging Challenge with Blogchatter. Today is Day 11 of the challenge.

Reflections... Hello July

It’s been a couple of months I haven’t penned anything specific on my blog. A post a month here and there and I was done. Right after the giant A to Z, something got into me! I don’t know what? But I just couldn’t write... At all! Period.

Though I did write a few notes on my phone but they weren’t worth sharing with you guys. In the beginning, I felt guilty. For not writing.
Every time I saw my laptop, guilt crept in. It felt as if it was calling my name and begging me to use it for writing! But I didn’t listen to it, obviously!

Few of my work got published, and I was happy to know and yet it didn’t do anything to my writing mojo! Strange, right?

And somewhere in between, me blaming the burning heat and the arrival of frugal monsoons, time passed, and so did my guilt.

Off late, I felt I had a lot of free time on my hands, only to realize that I wasn’t reading and writing. Then what was I doing exactly?

O yes, I travelled a bit, shopped a lot, had relatives over, so you see, I wasn’t that free as well!

Two months back, my mother had undergone a surgery. Knee replacement. So I stayed with her for a couple of weeks. She is doing fine but the initial few days when she was home, were difficult.  The amount of pain that she had to bear used to kill me. She truly is a fighter. And I am so lucky to be her daughter. I just wanted to make her happy, pamper her, do everything for her and give her utmost comfort. I did try my best, but obviously, the pain couldn’t be lessened.

After coming back, I was travelling again. This time to Kolkata. Mind you, it was the first trip I took with my MIL and SIL without my husband. And for my MIL, it was a huge step, travelling without her husband... but she did. And it was fun. Full of shopping, hogging street food, chit-chatting, rushing here and there, late night sleep and so on and like that the trip was over... only to make plans for another place, somewhere more touristy: P

Classes are back on track and it barely rains here. And I hate it. Results were out and my students performed well. I couldn’t be any happier.

And it’s July already! 6 months gone!!! I wonder where?

How did June treat you? And the remaining months?

P.S: I wondered if someone misses me from the blogging world when I don’t write. Has my writing made an impact on anyone? Who cares, if no post was shared in these two months? And in these moments of self-doubt, came a wonderful blogger and an incredible human being, rescuing me and telling me that she missed me! At least someone did!

Thank you, Parul. This post is dedicated to you. I hope not to go back in hibernation mode :P

Cheers

Resolutions laid ahead!

2016 started with a bang with an amazing weather in the hills of Northern India. The soft, mild sunny weather in the afternoon and the chilly winds in the evening, with a bunch of completely insane species on planet was a perfect fusion to kick start this new year! Food, drinks, music, friends, road trip, photos, party.. what else could one ask for?

With such a staggering start of the year, I am all energised and set to lay my plans ahead for the year. Yes, I wish to write the chapter on my own for the year and make it worth reading for the coming years. Last year gave me a lot, and I intend to scout even more from this year. As I’ve heard, human wants are insatiable, true as they say!

So, what I really plan to do this year? Let’s find out:

Read at least 25 books this year. And I know it’s not going to be easy, but as they say, try, try till you succeed. Reading sure is the appetite for good writing and that is one thing I want to be healthy at..!! I sometimes, really have to make an effort to pick up a book and start reading it.

Writing-

Writing something every single day. Yes, that’s challenging, but then what’s life without challenges! I want to take my writing ahead professionally. Looking forward to try my hands on fiction and a few series.

Wellness-

Very important. I have been dillydallying it from I don’t even remember when. Time to stop it all and finally exercise! It does help you maintain your cool. A positive mind and a healthy body is the perfect way to move towards your goals. Don’t you think?

Emotional Well being-

Yes. I am emotional person. I think almost everything like a zillion times in my head and take it to my heart easily. Time to get rid of it. I am working on this, but nothing happens overnight, eh? It makes suffer so much, without me realizing how agitated I often get! A little more patience and hope for a better future and I am really to shine all bright!

Resolutions really work for me and this year too I plan to make them happen.
That pretty much sums up my list. Have you made yours? Don’t you want to share? I’d love to read.

Wish you all a very Happy New Year :)

Year of Firsts that was 2015

As I sit with my laptop, thinking about how 2015 went by, the only thing that comes to me is how glorious the year turned out for me. 2015 was perhaps, the most resplendent year of my life, both in terms of my personal and professional life. It was a year that satiated the dreamer in me. Yes, there were specks of sorrows as well, but then what’s true happiness if there’s no sadness? And I am glad I could overcome all of it and didn’t let my fiery spirit die. There are so many things that I am grateful for, so much that 2015 has given me, of course, I had to jot it down and embrace everything around!

Here’s listing below my learning’s, my gratitude this year-

1. It was a year of so many Firsts! My first post being published on web, first win at Writer’s Ezine, my first post winning at Blogadda along with being published at Women’s Web and attending a conference for the same, celebrating first Teacher’s Day, asked to review a book for the first time, receiving a gift from Secret Santa for the first time, first Tangy Tuesday pick at Blogadda, receiving the first bloggeraward, celebrating Friendships Day first time with Myself, having the first WOW post, being published at Story Mirror. Gosh! It truly was a year of Firsts! Not to mention my story and poems have made to the anthology this year which shall be published soon! And as I write this post, I realize there is a glow of happiness on my face, which I completely devour.

2. I realized as and when you grow, it’s hard to maintain that same level of your friendship alive. It takes lot many efforts for things to remain the same. But friends are the wonderful family one can ever have. They will be there through your thick and thin and I am so glad to have them.

3. When I read my reflections post of January this year, I found out about being so paranoid about my writing, and the ritual to maintain it. Today, I only laugh at it, but somewhere deep down, I am still worried, and yet there exists so much of gratification inside me for completing it religiously.

4. One thing that I am really willing to carry forward next year is the fact it is you and only you who can help yourself more than anyone in the world. There will be people who will try to bring their hands forward, but you can blossom only if you’re willing to. And that power lies inside you. As they say, to get something you’ve never got before, you need to make efforts you’ve never made before! Makes sense?

5. I learnt that if you’re quiet about something, and don’t have the habit of exaggerating too much, you’re going to be taken lightly! Yes. You heard me right! Anything, that you do, you constantly need to remind others what you did, otherwise they forget easy. But then I feel, it’s not always about accentuating what you do; it is more about doing anything that comes straight from heart! I am really confused on this. Any suggestions from you?

6. This year helped me learn a lot about myself, my family, and the dynamics about how things works, and it is all for good.

7. Technology, it does connect with the ones far from you, but takes you far from the ones sitting near you. I realized everything on social media (or may be most of it) is a sham! Nothing is perfect in the world. No one is. Egging upon sharing every iota detail of your life only makes you look desperate. Come out of the virtual world, and embrace the real world around you. I am not saying that it is bad, but getting addicted to it is bad.

8. In life, there is nothing gray for me. It is either black or white. This year I hope to discover the gray area as well. For my own good. It’s important to understand the politics that goes around you and in order to avert yourself from it, you need to move to the gray area and understand it first.

9. Family comes first, no matter what. It was a year of revelation for me. There were a few things where I thought my family would barely understand me, but they were way more ahead in taking action for the problems that circled me.

10.  I can never express the amount of love I have been showered upon this year. Boosting my inner self and having the confidence to take things a step ahead is what this year has taught me.

I’m sharing my #TalesOf2015 with BlogAdda.

How was your 2015? What is that one thing that you wish to take forward for 2016? Share with me and I’ll be more than happy!

Wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year.
