So I was sulking and ignoring him.

There are days when something happens that I don’t like and I go, mum. Period.

And today, when I got home from class, he was getting ready for work. And I obviously, ignored him again and moved on.

And there, he held my hand!

‘What happened?’

‘Nothing’

‘Then why all quiet?’

‘I’m fine. You say wassup?’

‘Come here, you’, bringing me close, ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’, and in a flurry of seconds, my heart melted away, and sulkiness vanished!

I smiled and giggled and looked a bit surprised and hugged him, wishing him the same!

‘How did the first half go?’

‘It was fine. Couldn’t speak much. Left a bit early’

‘Now rest and cancel the other session’

‘I can’t. I called at the institute and it’s not possible. Students have arrived, already! I can’t ask them to return now’

‘Your temperature right now is 3   . You can’t even afford to stand at the moment, let alone take the class.’

With a heavy heart and deep guilt, I cancelled the class and let the lone tear escape my eyes!

She texted him. Every day.

And waited for his reply. Every day.

She saw him coming online every now and then. Simply to learn that he was ignoring her.

He must be busy... But then why do I see his flirtatious messages on my friend’s phone all the time when my reply is still pending?!

Somewhere in between sending and waiting for his messages, her love took a silent death!

Z- Zealous

‘What theme should I choose? Please help. I have no clue!’

I said those lines to almost everyone I met! Narrating the A-to-Z-Challenge, seeking inputs, brain-storming and rejecting every idea they gave me. Of course, that was coupled with some stern remarks about my eccentricity of this whole thing.

A few scheduled posts were a relief, but not for long!

I wanted to quit. Reading, writing, commenting apart from work, was too much to handle.

But a voice inside kept yelling, you can do it! Finish it off and I’ll pat your back later!

And today I couldn’t be any happier!

At an event crowded with women, a young lass caught my attention. Tall, slender, short hair. She was wearing a grey knee length pencil fit skirt, flaunting her curves, teamed with a black blouse and a pair of black stilettos.

Her age nothing beyond 25, thought other women and found her right for their brats, the men there... had ideas of proposing her.

And there she was, walking on the dice with the perfect gait.

In no time, while sharing her struggles about being a woman, she declared her details. 40 and a mother of twins... well, the rest wasn’t needed!!

‘Meet Uncle Josh, he’s from Australia’

‘You want to go there? It has candies. You like them?’

Sanya was 5, when she first met a foreigner.

‘Mommy, can I go with Uncle... Pleeeezzz..!!’

‘Sure you can go, grow up and study there.’

‘Really? Thank you mommy!’

When Ajay was 18, his parents wanted him to apply for foreign universities. But he was reluctant. He didn’t want to go at all. He didn’t want to go anyplace concerned with foreigners.

Even if he thought of going, memories of Uncle Josh made him numb! Nasty memories that his uncle gave him!

Few more arguments led Sia sleep with the thought, is it coming to an end? Or has he met someone there?

Bright sunny morning, with the sunshine ready to kiss Sia.

'Surprise!!!!!!'

He stood there, with a bunch of flowers and a radiant smile!

She twitched her eyes to come to reality,

‘But how?.. when...? and flights... they must be so expensive?.. And your work?’

‘Sshhh... You’re worth it! This smile is worth it.’

And they sealed their lips.

V- Vain

7 years of Shweta’s marriage and she still missed her ex. She tried hard. Initially, the wedding fever kept her away from the affair, but lack of intimacy and communication, spark and the will to be together in her marriage was a distant dream.

On one end, she longed for her husband’s love and attention made countless efforts to be with him, keep the passion intact and surprised him quite often.

In contrary, she had her lover, who waited and craved for her attention.

She saw her efforts going in vain and finally succumbed to a relationship where she felt wanted!

‘Daughter-in-laws these days, I tell you! It's 9 months of my son’s wedding and now we’re filing for divorce’

Seriously?’

'Yes! She’s pregnant and now wants money. She doesn’t want to stay in the house with us! Or me particularly. What the hell does she think of herself?’

While the truth was, the woman her son married loved her unconditionally. She was the top most gynaecologists. Begging for food, being tortured, physical abuses and a treatment worse than a maid made her leave the house.

Now, she’s supporting her family with the income she earns and she couldn’t be any happier.

T- Thankful

Right after our 1^st anniversary, people were bothered about our baby. Too soon I found it.

Time flew and I was pregnant. Elated, I felt.

Devastation struck when I learned about my miscarriage.

Years passed and we tried everything. I did conceive and lost my baby at the same time.

I wasn’t the mother material. Or this was God’s way of saying you can’t be a mother or some fault in me, maybe.

Until, after 18 years, Sujit and I decided to be parents again.

Thanks to Science.

Surrogacy, they term, miracle I call it, and we couldn’t be any happier.

She never questioned him about his whereabouts, or nagged for time, irrespective of him spending all the time with his family, but her, or pecked about why he never complimented her or made real conversation with her. He never called her parents, or paid them a visit; he never picked her from airports or lifted her mood.

They did share a friendly bond, but the term ‘marriage’ and its elements were absent.

She knew it; that someday he’ll value her... appreciate her longanimity.

Surprisingly, not a hunch of jealousy but sheer acceptance of everything.

A beautiful smile and she was ready.

Q- Quiteness

Hard she tried to wake up early morning. ‘It will save your time and give you purpose. Fresh you will feel. Allow the cool breeze to touch your soul and invigorate your experience. You sure will love the feel of early mornings’, they said.

After several attempts, she could finally get detached from her bed.

Walking on the grass with bare feet was a feeling so soothing; the soft breeze she felt on her cheeks was enough to rejuvenate her.

The swing in the garden and her laptop was what she needed.

Ah! The bliss of writing in the morning... Incomparable!
