Vice that help me Be Nice ;)

So this post is an inspiration from the one at Mayuri’s blog and it kind of intrigued me to write one for myself. How strange it is right, to always hold back to virtues we want to keep in our lives and yet we stick to the not-so-good-ones as well.

No matter how much we curse a few sides of our personality, deep down our hearts, we’re happy to have them. And sometimes we’re proud of them as well! Don't you agree?

As much as strength is crucial, isn’t weakness equally significant to shape the perfect ‘you’?

There are certain virtues that make our lives and a few vices that save our lives as well. As I write this, I ponder over a few vices that I’m actually glad I have. C’mon, let’s find out.

For starters, I’m too altruistic! Always having this urge to help others, no matter what circumstances may be and this has often caused problems for me. And this altruism is not for strangers, it’s for the people I’m most attached to. If at all anything is wrong with them, my priority is always to help them out and be with them. Regardless of the fact of what I’m going through or what I’m facing/feeling/suffering and all the ‘ings..’ :p At the end of the day, no matter how difficult the circumstances have been with me, being there for my people always leaves me in peace and have a sound sleep at night.

That incessant need to see good in others! Sometimes, it just gets too much! I always try to see the positive side... even in the most negative people. Sure it’s a good thing, but sometimes, it acts like a sheet of a blanket covering their devilish side, used to blindfold my own eyes!

Oh! And my odd cravings for odd things at odd hours! Talk to my husband about it, and you’ll know the details. Real fine details of my tantrums that I throw when I crave for certain things. When I feel like eating something or let’s say I’m famished, I crave for particular delicacies/stuff (sometimes) but those cravings are really high! And they have to be from a particular place only. Period. Or else, my mood is ruined for the next couple of hours! I know deep down you must pity my husband! I too have done that, but nothing changed! I’ve moved on.

I love being random. Being spontaneous is always something that excites me. Doing things unexpected, planning random surprises without any occasion, making sudden plans of trips or vacations or maybe a drive in the night, gives me thrills! I find it really exciting!

I have this thing of doing things aren’t supposed to be done! Yes, I have this incessant need to do and see how it feels. There were times when we were not allowed to do certain things and yet, I did most of them ;) :P :D. And I am happy and proud of it as well! Such events have their own share of fun I feel!

Source
Isn’t the activity fun? Sure these are vices, but the fun factor and the happiness to indulge in them is to another level! I love having them in me and would never want to change it, ever.

You should try it too and jot them down. You never know, what you may get to learn about yourself.

Cheers

Success for You is? #MondayMusings

At this moment I’m occupied. With lots of stuff and yet I waste my time so much. I should read the lined up books for reviews, I should study for the exam I’m planning to give and I know this is my only chance to give the exam, God knows what’s planned for later. This being the only chance, yet, I’m not getting serious about it! When will I get serious I’m wondering? I want to work hard, but a simple thought of sitting beside A in the room distracts me. Why does this happen with me all the time? I should concentrate on my work, right, and yet I seem to put everything aside when he is around. I don’t feel like doing anything. Does this prove that I don’t love myself enough?

Why do I always take a step behind when the moment arrives of working hard, burning the midnight lamp, and build that laid back attitude of taking things for granted and then cribbing later of not being where I wanted to be, not having the things I wanted to have and not achieving the goals I wanted to for so long?!

Is there a defect in my system? Does this happen with you as well?

Sometimes I wonder, what really is success?

Google says:

the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.

Yes, to a lot extent. What if all you wanted was to be happy? And make less money, live in a small house, buy a small car, spending extravagantly is simply not your thing. Moreover, you probably don't want that much amount of money! I know it's rare, but what if?

Is it all monetary? Happiness is often put behind. Contentment is just another word. Success is often measured by the amount of money one makes.

Being busy, working all day, earning that respect, and being recognized for your work sounds all immaterial when it comes to measuring the amount of money one is making. Is the person able to pay all their bills? Is the person able to feed the family well, fulfilling all the demands? If not, one is deemed to be unsuccessful. It’s sad. It hurts and it sucks as well!

Take writing for example. Over these years, I’ve discovered my love for writing. I don’t really know if it’s my passion. But when it comes to paying, it barely pays me anything. Does this make my writing bad? Not at all. But because I’m not making enough money out of my writing, I won’t be called as a successful writer. No matter how much contentment I get doing it. Forget about others, I still have second thoughts of calling myself as a writer in the first place!

The moment writing will start paying me good money, I might be termed as, you know what we’re talking about, successful!

You’re not convinced, are you? Let’s take another example.

There is the man who loves to drive. He is so fond of driving that he becomes a driver one day. He makes frugal money but he is happy with it. He is happy with his life, with his employer, with his family. But is he a successful person in the eyes of the world? I bet not! The moment he will switch jobs and settle where he could tap millions, he might sure be. And then his example would circulate all over the newspapers, colony, relatives, etc!

Sounds ironical, right?

What do you think of that? Do you agree with my thoughts? Yes or no, share your views below!

P.S: It’s Monday! I don’t want to bug you more! This is enough for the day :P

Late-twenties crisis: Are you having one? #MondayMusings

Somehow, I’ve started speaking less.

It surely sounds like a relief to the people around me but this thing is kind of taking a toll on me. It is affecting me big time.

Sometimes I wonder am I moving towards depression? What is it that is going wrong in my life? Or what is it that is bothering me so much?

Everything, almost everything around me is in good shape and yet I don’t feel that joy. Even if there is a sense of happiness, it is temporary.

I don’t feel like going out, I don’t feel like meeting my friends and even if I do, I barely speak with them and I mostly prefer to stay mum. And yes, I do cry for no reason. Tiniest of things affect me, my sensitivity is at its epitome! All of it is so UNLIKE me! Countless thoughts revolve around the orbit of my brain and it’s difficult to find an escape. These thoughts are usually negative.

I’m turning into a woman I don’t like. My zeal to do things seems to flicker, the emphatic nature that I have seems to fade away, finding joys in others joys seems like a task, I get unhappy with what I have and wish for things (not necessarily materialistic) that others have!

All this is because I’m speaking less. And I don’t really know why! I always have expressed my heart out, talking to people has been my forte, and meeting them and feeling good has always been on my plus side! And now, suddenly, it seems incomplete.

I know it in my heart when I’m back to my usual self, all of this crap will go away!

Not that I have a lot of free time, a lot is going on but that volition to be good, do things, entertain people, be the heart and soul of my friends is languishing.

Yesterday, I met a dear friend after a really long time. And she was busy on her phone mostly and I was bored and thus ended up being on my phone! Again so unlike me!

I was home after being at my mum’s place for a couple of days and coming home meant happiness, it meant seeing my husband after a while. It was bliss. I loved having him around and things were going pretty smooth between us. And yet, I got pissed on such a petty thing. And spoilt my mood. And mind you, he was nowhere at fault. It was all in my head, all the futile, baseless thoughts that I keep having, that botch up everything around me, every time!

Is it depression? Are these the symptoms? Or is it the late-twenty crisis? Or are my planetary situations a bit deviated from their paths (if only there is a sound reason behind it)? I don’t know it yet and I don’t feel like finding out either!

The situation is not that worse, but it’s not good on the other hand! Something is bothering me, I just don’t know it yet!

Does this ring a bell with you? Have you felt something like this? What did you do? How did you escape? You gotta tell me! It really is affecting me!

Random Ranting- #MondayMusings

"Only by Learning to live in Harmony with your Contradictions you can keep it all afloat"
                                                                                                                                    - Audre Lorde

It’s after full one week that I am writing a post. No visiting of the blogs, no replying to the comments... My blog was dormant for a week! Oh No... I wasn’t going through the writer’s block. It was the internet connection! And a bit of travelling as well. Yes, that kept me off from my blog and you guys!

Having no internet sometimes really makes you handicapped! You can’t read much stuff, lest about commenting on articles... The entire day becomes slow and lethargic... Also, it gives birth to guilt... Yes, guilt! For not reading much and the anxiety inside that eats you up for missing out so much on social media. And the list of saved links only surges!

And when you know the coming plans for the week, moving here and there will again take a toll on your writing, you finally decide to break this chain and write a piece of pointless blabbering!
Source
How do you all manage to write and read so much of stuff in such less time? I really need to learn this art. Yes, I’m trying a few different things, but then, o yes! It’s the internet connection that’s the problem, not me, eh?

And books, where art thou lost? Why am I not reading enough of them? I took up this reading challenge on Goodreads, and I can clearly see myself failing at it. Why am I doing this to me? And on top of that, ranting so much about it! What has gotten into me?

I started writing this post in the afternoon and it’s evening now and I have barely managed to write anything. But, O, here’s the thing, I wasn’t home... I went out, to meet a friend! And I am so glad I met her. After ages! It’s feels incredible to catch up with a few friends, after I don’t even remember how many months, err, years!
Good times
How does time fly? How the topic of our conversations change over these years, realizing how stupid and silly we used to be, long back, in our early twenties, and how we’ve grown so much as individuals! Meeting old friends is rejuvenation! It kind of clears the system and brings a smile, simply by thinking about meeting them. It is therapeutic, at least for me! That is one thing that I enjoy the most.

| Your life does not get better by chance, it gets better by change.

My friend, who I met this evening, she is the one because of whom I got introduced to blogging.  I used to read her posts and a few other bloggers at that time. And I did start my own blog as well but didn’t maintain it. Writing wasn’t my thing then, or maybe I hadn’t discovered it by then. But that is a different story altogether. Thank you Mansi, for everything! Just the conversation this evening meant how special our bond is and no matter what, we're always going to be like this, always on the same page, no matter how many miles apart we stay, or how less we speak, but our thing will always be going to remain the same.

I think that will be all from my side today. How about talking what’s on your mind right now, when you come at the end of this post? Tell me random stuff, coz I’ve been writing random stuff.

C'mon.. Now go on...

Come, let's #PledgeforParity, this Women's Day- #MondayMusings

Source

With International Women’s Day coming up, the social media is flooded with zillion articles and posters to celebrate the womanhood in the world. Isn’t that a wonderful thing to do? And so I'd like to share my two cents. For I am no different. And it will be more than a pleasure to share the thoughts on my own blog space.

While scrolling down my Facebook newsfeed, I came across #PledgeforParity movement on Naba’s post and that intrigued me right away. I wanted to pledge and be a part of the force where millions of women are joining hands for the equality in the world. And this shout out is more important than you think.

All of us, women, try our level best to share, do, treat, take things equally. And expect equal rights, don’t we? And our families too support us to an extent in this effort. But is it always possible to do that every single time? Sometimes, Yes, but most of the times, No!

Yes, times are changing but there is a lot that still has to be taken care of.

I have a few examples to share and justify my notion.

For instance, let’s say everyone is having dinner at the table or let’s say you have guests over to your place and you don’t have a hired staff to cook things for you, in that situation, watching the woman of the house- making, preparing or serving hot meal looks like big deal? Hell, No!

The man of the house sits with the guests devouring in the tea and snacks prepared by his lovely wife and he gets to make jokes, discuss politics and share things around, completely oblivious to the help her wife needs.

Or let’s say there are friends over for a get-together, will not the wife insist the husband sit comfortably and she will bring water, snacks, glasses, drinks, or whatever. Isn’t that a common sight to witness? And truth be told, we too, don’t see anything wrong in that. Isn’t that the way we’ve been seeing things since our childhood? Yes, exceptions are always there and I am glad there are a few, but not many. Why we don’t feel anything wrong with this arrangement is because that’s how we see things around us.

Let’s say, you’re invited to a family dinner to your relatives house. Doesn’t it become your (women’s) duty, to go and ask if the host needs help? Or is there anything where she can help in serving things? Or if she forgets to offer help, the woman’s family will sub-consciously ask her to help out the host and she will be more than willing to do it.

And if for a change she doesn’t come forward to help, people automatically make assumptions and judge her on her etiquettes and manners.

Isn’t that true?

I don't have a problem doing that chore, but sometimes what I feel is, why is it always a woman’s duty to offer help? And not men to offer for help. And why don’t we label or comment on their etiquettes and manners when they don’t move their asses to help out?

Why don’t we see the kind of arrangement where the lady of the house is chit chatting and the men are serving or offering for help, to say the least? Why are bhabhi JI's only supposed to get up from their places and enter into the kitchen?

I know it will take a really long time to change this system and can be possible with men’s help if only they are willing to. Otherwise, nothing can be done if it doesn’t come from within.

Let’s take another instance.

So a couple of friends hang out together on weekends and most of them are married. And friends with whom you’re hanging out were first your husband’s friends but eventually with time, you too have bonded with them and their wives.

Now, you’re not in town for a few days (may be you’re visiting your parents), in that case, does the husband stops going out with friends on weekends or late nights? Or if he goes, is he back before it turns dark? Of course not!

On the contrary, if the husband is out of town for work or something, of course, the wife wouldn't go out in the night or hang out with his friends? She may go if the couple is staying all by themselves, but she will never go if she is staying with the husband’s family.

It will look awkward, wouldn’t it? Even the husband may not like it in the first place. He too will suggest visiting them some other weekend and chucking them this time. And we don’t see anything wrong in it, do we? Because that’s just how it is. I don’t have anything against it but it’s just an observation that pesters me sometimes.

Again, things are changing, men are changing as well and it will take a whole lot of years to bring complete equality in the world.

According to International Women’s Day website:

The World Economic Forum predicted in 2014 that it would take until 2095 to achieve global gender parity. Then one year later in 2015, they estimated that a slowdown in the already glacial pace of progress meant the gender gap wouldn't close entirely until 2133.

Until 2133!!! That’s a lot of time!

Such things are so deep rooted and ingrained in our heads, that we don’t even feel the need to fight this issue. And that is why I pledge to challenge conscious and unconscious bias.
Source
I read Richa’s post as well, and what moved me was:

We too wish to live in a world where there is no need for feminism.

And I so agree with this. Why is feminism even a word? Had there been equality all over the world, no such term would have ever existed. Isn’t that a valid food for thought?

Leaving your work the moment men enter the house, keeping things at proper places, organizing their wardrobes, are normal things to do. But why don’t men do such things if they are that normal?

I have pledged for parity.

On this Women’s Day, are you going to pledge?

I’m sure you too must be having numerous instances in this regard. Why not share your experiences and thoughts in the comments below? Would love to hear them out.

P.S: The examples mentioned above are purely observations and nothing personal.

Cheers

Reasons I hear for Having a Baby right away! #MondayMusings

Are you married just yet? If yes, then you’re lucky for a while, but not for long. But let’s just say you’re married for 2 years now and I’m sure you must be bombarded with hell lot of unsolicited advice for taking a step ahead in your life, starting your own family and having a baby.

I am married for 3 years now and will celebrate my 4th anniversary this year in October. I’m sure you must have got a hunch about things must have been at my end when it comes to starting my family. Certain reasons sound okay, while certain sound just as funny.

In the first place, I feel, who are you to tell me about how to go about things in life? Especially, a thing as personal as this? And this comes from a set of people with whom I barely talk, we hardly communicate and know each other. We don’t know each other and here you come, unabashedly giving all the not-so-required suggestions. And the nosy relatives! You know how poky they get when it comes to others business.

Let me throw a few statements that I get. They may be instances as well that I’m telling you.

-  So once, we wanted to buy some furniture for my MIL’s room. And after scouting a number of shops, we finally found the right shop and the right piece that we were looking for. This took 2-3 days, visiting a couple of shops and finally placing the order at the right shop. After signing the deal, on our way to home, I was really happy and relieved that we could finally make the choice and was pondering about the same while driving. And while on the way, I also learned that just the way it took so many efforts for us to find the right furniture, it will surely take a bit time and effort to make a baby! I mean what logic is this? Or maybe the logic is correct, but what timing was that? We were talking about furniture and then automatically the entire topic now shifted towards family planning! While I was secretly thinking in my head to cancel the next place we had to go and raised the speed to reach home as early as possible.

- One Sunday evening, while watching a movie together with family, during a break, A, asked if we could go to the mall to buy some stuff. Now one thing with A, is that he can’t shop during sale period (and it was sale period then). Also, when the place is too crowded, he’s not able to shop again. He would move around, look up some stuff but won’t buy because the place is stuffed with too many people. And that was the reason I was a bit reluctant to go. His parents asked him what he wanted to buy, to which he casually replied, nothing specific, just general time pass. We were anyway home, watching TV all day so it would be a bit of change. To this, we get to hear, that we should surely have kids now so that we’ll not get bored and won’t do unnecessary time pass! While they as well have nothing to do most of the times! So having a baby would resolve a lot of things! Again, what he proposed and what answer he got were two completely non-related things.

- Or let’s just say, no one is getting married this year, so that’s the best time to have a baby. Coz next year X may get hooked up, the other year Y and then Z. So no time later. But this year looks completely free and empty. How about filling it up with a baby? Well, how about completing it with yearly goals, learning a new thing, excelling in work, increasing the number of work hours so that there’s no time at all to get bored?! Just because no one is getting married or there are couple of weddings lined up next year, this year is the best to have a bun in the oven sounds completely absurd to me.

-Because you were the first one to get married and now your friends have started having kids, though they got married after you! Is it a competition of ‘who makes baby first?’ that is going on? Had that been the case, A said, marriage wasn’t the thing that was required. Babies could be made out wedlock as well! (O I am so glad he backs me up every time this topic comes up).

- Coz before 30, you should have two kids with a minimum gap of three years between the kids and you are already running out of time! Du-uh! I am 27 and I have ample amount of time! And who said we want two kids?

I know it’s an important part of life and I’ll do it only when A, and I feel comfortable about this. Other than us, I don’t think anyone has got any right to pester, lecture us about it every other day!

How about eating good food, hanging out with friends, partying occasionally, working your ass off the whole week while relaxing and chilling on Sundays, all of these sound great deal to me. As of now. It may get changed later, of course.
Source
While the reasons are never ending and the advice are plenty, I’m sure you too must have faced this during social gatherings or family events or in your daily life. Certain reasons do make sense, while most of them are absurd, idiotic, and laughable at the same time.

What do people say to you? Do they bug you with such inquiries and unsolicited advice? Is it the same or you face something different? Do you answer back right away? Let me know if you do, coz I really need some new answers and I might just use yours.

Writing Ritual.. not for Me!

O no! Strictly no ritual. It’s simply random. When there is a writing challenge, then my writing juices flow, and get a kickstart.. Or whenever any incident has triggered me a lot and left an effect deep down, writing is the only escape I have to keep my sanity alive. Sometimes, there are people who really annoy us in ways we never imagine, writing a blogpost or probably an article does wonders (I know I’m sliding towards the demons side now :P). The routine itself isn’t fixed, then how can writing be?
That's what I do!
You tell me, do you have a fixed routine? If yes, then how are you able to maintain consistency with it?

P.S- I’m really running out of time, hence such a short write up.. I know, I know, you’re glad.. but not more than me :P ;)

Reflections- October #Monday Musings

Photos say it all :)
November is here already! Another month has arrived, promising to bring lots of happiness, with festivals coming along, so much of food, sweets and family time together. But I guess I can talk about November next month, right?

October, so far was the best month this year. Full of surprises and happiness. It had to be, being my birthday and anniversary month at the same time. The winds talk, the cool breeze speaks so much to me, filling me with positivity and excitement at the same time.

Though October started with a bit of laziness initially as I was suffering from Blogstipation :P, but I recuperated from it soon and I am so glad I did. It happens with all of us, doesn’t it?

Having your birthday and anniversary in the same week has its own perks and at the same time downside as well. Before I got married, the only thing I used to do was mellow in my own world and wait for the special day, for the surprises my friends and family prepared during this time. All I had to do was take it from them, open it, be happy about it and relish every memory that these loved ones gave me. But post wedding, I am the one who ends up thinking and planning for something special, not for me, but for my better-half- A. Though, I love every bit of doing it, yet it would be better if it would be a few more days ahead. But that’s okay.. what’s done is done.. and I know, I should have thought about it earlier.

And that’s not just it, my MIL’s birthday too lies this same month. Or to say next day of my birthday. So it’s a whole week of celebrations at our place, with cakes, flowers, friends, fun, giving and receiving gifts at the same time, shopping for myself and others as well! :)

My birthday was as special as ever. A surprised me with things I love the most in the most unexpected ways, which was quite unexpected on his part to do it! It’s truly a blessing to have him in my life. I too did something different this month.

I recently I came across a video and shared it on my timeline as well, where I learned that a single human being consumes an average of 17-18 trees of oxygen in its whole lifetime. How nice would it be if we plant a tree on our birthday every year? For nobody will cut that tree for sure and we too won’t let that happen. Plus, we can plant this much for Mother Earth! I was really touched with that video and decided to start this new legacy.

I planted a lemon tree! Okay.. it must be sounding funny to you, but had I planted a huge tree, we’d run of space in a few coming years, and then where would I have planted the rest of trees of my life? I hope you got my point?! ;) :)

October was also about meeting so many deadlines! I had to finish the syllabus at the institute along with so many writing things. I am so glad, I could complete all of them within time, a bit late, but I did.

I also watched a new series- TVF-ThePitchers. Have you guys seen this one? If not, then you have to watch it! I’ll bet you will love this one! It’s there on YouTube. And it has only 5 episodes. It came out this year only. This series is so realistic! You will fall in love with almost every character in the same. I was truly devoured in its fever for a few days- The Viral Fever (TVF).

Anniversary celebrations were great. We finally got a frame for our room with our wedding photo. And what better occasion would it be other than anniversary? A loved it!

And then there was Karwachauth! As much as I love to do, the not so usual, sringaar, this day really scares me a lot. But the day went just fine. I didn’t faint, I didn’t fall.. so it was fine and all of us had a great time by the end of the day.

The month ended with it a few more writing challenges for November. NaNoWriMo and NoMo. I really have no idea what am I going to do in the Novel writing challenge. How are you planning to go about it? Any suggestions that help me calm down?

I am still wondering where October flied. And I am so glad to have so many positive things in my life. Wonderful family, friends, my not so expressive husband, my students.

It was totally a month to remember!

What did you do all October? And if you fasted, how did it go? How are Diwali preparations coming along?

Self doubt? I'm sure it bothers!

The thought on Corinne’s post today struck me somewhere. So many times it happens when we want to do anything particular, try something new, something that we have never done before and it is out of our comfort zone as well! The thrill does runs into our blood, and in a tad of time, a single sentence pops up and we leave it!

What is that single sentence? And who uttered it to us? Our mother? Only if she had any idea about it! Our father? Only if we dared to discuss it with him. Our siblings? Only if we shared that conversation 24*7. Then who? Our friends? Did they stop us from doing what we wanted? But why will they stop? They’re the first set of people on earth who make us criminals in the first place! Then who else is left?

O.. yeah..!! How can I forget to mention about my, err, our alter-ego! Well yes.. the inside us.. who knows every minute detail of our lives and keeps us knocking apart from what we want to do! Yes, it does tells us right things as well at times. But like I said, at times! It surely helps us stay grounded, but who wants to go underground?
Self doubt is the worst enemy I guess. For we try to keep the first brick of self confidence.. and there it comes from nowhere, smashing away all of it..! And, we adults are not the only victims of it, children too have a lot of this! But how come these toddlers at such a tender age pick it from? Well no prize for guesses, it’s obviously us! I think we really need to think before acting and saying things before them! They really pick fast!

So what can be done, in order to cure this malady of self doubt? Saying/writing affirmative sentences could help.

I looked for a few. Some did scare me as well, but then if your dreams don’t scare you, may be they’re not big enough!

I thought of sharing them with you..
How do you deal with self doubt? What things do you say or write to yourself? Want to share any trick? Feel free :)

Nerds in Herds.. #MondayMusings

I’m really humble with people,
At every point of time
What I don’t get is,
Why do they behave so grime!

It’s courtesy what I’ve learnt,
Its being polite what is taught
It’s respecting other’s opinions is what I believe in
Then why do people tend to walk all over, and think it’s a win!

Let me talk and voice my opinion
Listen to the point and then draw conclusion
Without knowing the whole story,
Please don’t create any confusion!

Subtlety is mistaken for being weak
Kindness is replaced with being fake
What virtue is it that they understand
Let me know, and I promise, it’ll be all your command!

Ignore the pride and come to reality
You are nothing but a bunch of a skite
Allow the freedom of speech to others as well
Or else they also possess the power to bite!

People, they’re weird species
Patience, tolerance, forbearance are a few words
Which gets so difficult to understand
For these clump of herds!

I sigh sometimes and forego it
For when time will come
They’ll automatically learn it.
All I await is for that time to come
When there will be virtues like
Maturity and sensibility to name some.

Reflections- August

I feel I have missed so much. Last week was more than crazy. I had a few important submissions, tests and other classes to schedule. Writing took a backstage for the whole week and I felt miserable about it. I’ve missed reading so many of you last week :(. Sometimes I wonder how do you manage at all to write at this spectacular consistency?! I really need to learn this. Any suggestions please? Second part of the week was spent in my hometown. With the family, with all the close relatives and the joy of being with people who I love so much during festival couldn’t be any better!

This month gone too... I wonder what the hell is wrong with time?! The month started with friendships day and it was a day well spent. Seeing the smile on the faces of those children cherishes me every time I think about them. A few celebrations here and there and I were all energized! Two of  my posts got published which I wrote this month. I was more than happy. It does give you a push, at the moment when you feel a little low about yourself. The last prompt from Magpie Tales, was the kind of write that I had never written before. A little BOLD. And people really liked it. This month I’m hoping to write more on that.

Some odd eating habits creeped in me. I wasn’t enjoying the regular meal being cooked at home and thus I ended up eating outside on almost each day: P.

I love to shop... who doesn’t? :P This month I picked up lots of stuff and enjoyed every bit of it. I saw Baahubali and Drishyam. Baahubali.. the graphics were spectacular, but beyond that there was nothing that excited me. The second part of the movie, it’s plot and the strategies used were inspired from Game of Thrones. No it wasn’t much, just a part of it. Made me wonder what has happened to the taste of people around me. Drishyam, on the other hand, was truly engrossing. The plot, the characters, the acting, the story... gripping it was. One brilliant movie in a long time.

As much as I was stuck with other important stuff last week, I got a good break from blogging. And this month I’ll try to stick with my writing regime. Not to mention August gave me so much!!

I think that’s it for now. What did you all month? What movies did you watch? How were the rains? There were hardly any here, that’s why I didn’t mention any :P.

#Microblog Monday- Be your Brand

Having the power to express yourself, doesn’t that feels great? It feels to me at least. And it makes the other person feel as well. You can surely bet on this. And making the other person feel good with you being the reason behind it, is truly a cherry on the cake. The joy of bringing a smile on other’s face, seeing them happy with something that you just said to them. And by this I mean, genuine words of course!
Not being a sycophant for sure. I read Parul’s post today, and realized I am so much like her in this context, and mind you, she's one wonderful person you'd love to read. And for me, I love to express myself, through my poems, writings, notes, words, non-sense talks.. that’s just me and it feels wonderful.

But for many it’s so difficult to give words to their feelings. For themselves and for the people around them. And it’s actually very difficult for not being able to voice out your inside story.

Imagine, sometimes, I only feel, I don’t express enough, say enough, talk enough!! Then God bless the rest, who’re beginners in this niche.
How about you people? What’s best form for you to express?

Till then,

Guiding Way

That night in the desert, when I stood all by myself, with only moonlight to guide my way. The path that will lead me to my goal. I see mountains all over, barricading my way. Giant and majestic. Tenacious and huge. Roaring high and kissing the air. Challenging me to touch the sky. The barren land, far and strong. The turquoise colour and the twinkling stars, shine their way, propelling me to radiate in their flair. O mountains, please lead and show me the right direction, for I am just a dreamer, probing for my inner self and aspirations so obscure!

Monday Journals #3

O boy..! it’s Monday again.. #MondayMusings makes me realize, Mondays come quite fast.. with the usual morning, and the usual day at work.

You know, every day when I pass the lanes while going on and off from work, there is this CCD that comes. And every time, I think to stop by, grab a coffee and cookie and then reach home. And then comes the realization.. my all time increasing waistline that is not ready to stop at any cost, the sweet tooth that I have, the odd cravings which are so highly unpredictable that can pop up at any odd hour of the day, and not to forget the billions of calories that I feed my body on weekends.. well all these reasons are strong enough to calm my subconscious down..!! and make go straight to home!

But this Monday evening, while returning from work, I thought enough is enough (anyway, I was famished), I thought, once in a while chalta hai, the only statement that I say to myself when I hop on something sinful and scrumptious..

I enjoyed the drive back home with my all time favorite coffee and cookie..

Does this happen with you while returning from work? Do share..

P.S:- It was there on my mind, so thought of posting it. As it is, that is what Monday Musings are for, right?

Till then..

A Date with Myself!

Late Saturday nights are followed by late Sunday mornings.. and this Sunday wasn’t any exception either. As it was Friendship’s Day, my Facebook newsfeed was loaded with all the photographs, posts, texts, messages.. people celebrating this beautiful day and expressing all of it their besties.. and so was it with whatsapp. It truly is a delight to rejoice your friendship and feel blessed to have all those bunch of beautiful monsters in your life.

I have celebrated Friendship’s Day like crazy, with all my friends and I cherish every moment when I recall those times. But right now, after so many years.. so many things change.. place, work, marriage, kids and the world becomes all upside down, with just one thing remaining the same.. Friendship! It is one thing that keeps me going.. helps me be myself.. gives me the confidence to shine bright each day.. rejuvenates my aura and cheers up my mood.. gives me courage to do things right, make things right.. Yes, all of it is what friendship does to me.
This time it was all about receiving a few calls, expressing all the love on texts.. not because it’s different, but because, everything has been expressed and told and said like a billion times, and all of us know everyone’s story, that a simple text makes me feel, it’s sufficient.. coz we know what we have in our hearts.

So, as I’ve already told you, I have been busy making friends all my life, I didn’t realize, it’s important for me to be friends with myself first.. enjoy my own company, be my own buddy and discover/do things that I love doing by myself. What better day could it be better than Friendship’s Day? After like ages, it rained this Sunday.. making the city all wet and beautiful and pleasant. Now, in such a lovely weather, how can someone be home? Or may be inside the room, missing the quirky rains outside?! So when A (my husband) decided to curl up in his cosy blanket, I decided to take a shower, get ready and move my ass out of the house.

And there I was.. exploring all the nearby places, driving at a mere speed of 20-30km/h.. enjoying the lovely rains and the happiness it spreads. And in this amazing weather, how can someone miss bhutta (corn)? My all time favourite.. I can have it at any odd hour.. can never say No to it. Next instance, I was, grabbing myself this mouth-watering bhutta, hot and spicy, freshly roasted. While I was drowned savouring every bite of it, I saw a few kids, polishing people’s shoes and making money out of it. And then they, approached this bhuttawala (corn-vendor) to give them bhuttas, where they were asked to get away, for not having enough money in their pockets.

I felt a lump in my throat. Those tiny sparkling eyes, longed for so much, deserved so much, and yet nothing could be done..

“Hey.. come here..”

“Yes didi..”

“You are how many together?”

“We’re four”

“Where’s the fourth one? I can’t see him.”

“He’s coming.. there he is, making his way, on this busy street”

“You want to have bhuttas?”

“Yes didi.. but no money!”

“Don’t worry. Call your friend as well”

I called the bhuttawala guy and asked him to give one to each one of them

And then came another boy, very young..

“Didi, please.. even I want one”

“Don’t worry, you too can have one”

And there they were, all happy and smiley.. That was the best thing for them and for me that happened whole day. I also asked them to let me take a picture of them altogether. And here’s the reply,

“Kya didi, photo nikalogi? Police ko dogi kya?” (What didi, are you taking a picture of us? Will you give it to the police?)

Kids..!! How hesitant they felt in the first instant and then it took a few minutes for them to turn into posers :P

I left the street, roamed here and there, clicked a few pictures.. living every moment with myself. But how could this date be completed without a coffee?! There I was, at a near cafe, relishing every sip and basking in, in that special moment!

Later that evening went by meeting friends. The picture below sums up all.
P.S: Forgot to click the photo of the coffee. :P

What did you do this Friendship’s Day? Leave in the comments :)
