Love always dwelled upon me
Flowing from unforeseen directions, letting me be
Stories, movies, and novels that are written
Magical I felt, completely smitten!
Love comes easy and is no big deal
It is only a matter of how we feel
Who on earth doesn’t have their love?
‘Plenty’, I hear a voice from above!
All those years when I was growing
Oozes of galore were overflowing
A look from here and a compliment from there
It became quite a usual affair!
As I grew up and entered the adulthood
I left behind my thoughts from childhood
A girl this side and a woman on the other
All they did was shed their tears further.
Her boyfriend found another girl
And a new mistress of the husband was ready to unfurl
That gentleman sobbing in the corner
Found his wife sleeping with another foreigner!
Infidelity, adultery, deceiving others and telling lies
The World is full of them, and the inside walls of house cries
If you look at people you will see them smiling
But if you look deep within, you will find their sorrows piling!
Love isn’t easy as it looks
It isn’t as simple as described in the books
Love yourself first and the rest shall follow
Embrace what comes and ignore what’s hollow!

True, the world really isn't all good, and when you grow up your realise it more so. But yes, loving yourself balances all, the good and bad in life. Awesome take on the prompt.
ReplyDeleteYes, if only we learn to love ourselves first!

Love, Life...do they have to be so complicated?! You've summed it up so beautifully Geetika!
ReplyDeleteBut they always are! Aren't they Kala! Thank you so much :)

Love is truly stranger fiction. Perhaps that's why it's the emotion we understand the least. I love a poem.
ReplyDeleteThanks Suzy :)

Each one of us is fighting a demon. The world may or may not know, but the fight goes on. Everyday. Well written.
ReplyDeleteYes. All of us fight with ourselves whole day without even knowing sometimes!

Sigh... a major part of this is probably a life lesson meant for me :)
ReplyDeleteThat's how close to the truth some of it was.
And mine too! Very close!

That's the brutal truth about life, isn't it? Sigh, we fall and pick ourselves up and learn tough love in the process.
ReplyDeleteThat's the thing with us! We first tend to fall and get hurt and then learn!
DeleteBeautifully written and with a message there, Geetika. sad we ignore ourselves first and then want others to take care of us.
ReplyDeleteyes! Isn't it ironic?
DeleteThanks Parul!

True, we need to remember. My reason is if we don't love ourselves then how do we expect anyone else to. Such beautiful poetry, and like Roshan said a life lesson in every line.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet we want everyone to love us without us loving ourselves!
DeleteThank you so much Jai :)

No romance novel will ever be as romantic as a real life love story. (I don't speak from experience :D )
ReplyDeleteBut yes, it truly is stranger than fiction.
Sure it never will!
